Hearts in Harmony
A Special Sensory-Friendly Concert series
Sponsored by NASSP Grant
Hearts in Harmony is a special concert series designed specifically for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. In addition to providing a background of classical music performed by our members, our concerts are safe places for audience members to participate in interactive activities and engage with performers. In 2024, we were inspired by the lack of available concerts for autistic children in the Seattle area and were prompted to make our own.
So far, we have had two events and a total of 18 performances as part of our series, with many more to come.
🎶 ConChord Music is proud to share that our very own Nina Iorik, a talented young pianist and student leader, has been awarded a prestigious grant from the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Student Service Grant program. This competitive grant empowers student leaders to develop and lead impactful service projects in their communities.
This grant will support our innovative project, “Hearts in Harmony,” which aims to provide accessible classical music concerts for local autistic children. These sensory-friendly concerts, featuring ConChord musicians, will bring joy and harmony to families in our community.
We’re grateful for this recognition and excited to continue our mission of promoting mental health awareness through music. With this grant, we’ll be able to expand our “Hearts in Harmony” project, building on the success of our first event in September 2024.
Thank you to NASSP for empowering student leaders like Nina to make a positive impact in their communities. We’re honored to be part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our work in promoting the healing power of music.
